Managed to capture this Thorny Ray (Urogymnus Africanus) with my camera at Bird Island. This ray lacks a venomous barb, but its upper surface is covered with sharp thornlike tubercles. It is considered uncommmon to rare. We can add it to the list of things we can brag about on Saipan.
